The next Communities for Children (C4C)  meeting is Thursday, June 3rd from 12-1:30 in the Principal's Conference Room at MDI H.S.

The Bicycle/Pedestrian Task Force Meeting will be on Monday, March 8th from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM at the conference room in the basement of the Swan Agency, 43 Cottage St., Bar Harbor.  For more info: stephanie@friendsofacadia.org

The CD&LU group's Charrette "A working Pizza Party" is scheduled for March 12th  6:00 - 9:00 PM at the Harbor House in Southwest Harbor.  All are invited!!!  For more info:  marla@friendsofacadia.org

As a follow up to the recent housing summit, a small group of folks who are seeking year-round housing met and planned a community meeting to explore housing options.  The meeting will be on Tuesday, November 18th from 7 - 8:30 PM at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor.  Refreshments and child-care will be provided. The Next Meeting of the Steering Committee will be 8-10 AM on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at Maine Sea Coast Mission building, West Street, Bar Harbor.

The next planning meeting for School Gardens on MDI will be on Wednesday, September 17th, 4 - 5:30 PM at MDI High School, Room #114. This group will be planning logistics for school gardens, incorporated into curricula, cafeteria and community at MDI-area schools.

June 2, 2003 - 6:00pm, Mt. Desert Town Office, Northeast Harbor- COA students will present studies from their work in GIS and Land Use Planning which look at land use issues primarily for the town of Mt. Desert but clearly with island wide implications. Topics include existing growth patterns, cost of sprawl, development and conservation suitability and affordable housing. All are welcome to attend.

May 23, 2003 - deadline for Youth Action minigrant proposals - Healthy Acadia is pleased to offer mini-grants of up to $1000 for local groups working ot engage young people in building healthy communities. Funds are available for projects that promote tobacco prevention, recreational opportunities, or nutrition and healthy food. Funds will be awarded to projects involving youth from at least one of the following areas: Mt. Desert Island, Trenton, Lamoine, Swans Island, Cranberry Islands and Frenchboro.
