Ý
I. Report from the
Steering Committee
Stephanie reported that the Bar
Harbor Times and the Mt. Desert Islander have agreed to run a series
of op-ed pieces leading up to the November Island Networking conference.Ý The op-ed pieces will be drafted by each of
the issue committees and will focus on the scope of the issues and the data
collected for the State of the Island report.Ý
They will also issue a rallying cry for folks to attend the November
conference.Ý The transportation
committee has been assigned the date of October 17th, so the op-ed
piece must be completed and submitted to the papers by Friday, October 11th.Ý Stephanie asked for volunteers to either
write or sign our committeeís report.
Stephanie also said that
because the op-ed piece is supposed to focus on data collected, we need folks
to complete their research, if possible, by September 20th.Ý She asked for volunteers to compile the
information into the transportation section of the State of the Island
report.Ý She reported that at a minimum,
the committee could simply include the raw data as an appendix to the report
and display the op-ed piece up front as the transportation ìState of the
Islandî.Ý
Stephanie added that we need to
develop a transportation section for the MDI Tomorrow website.Ý Marla Major has drafted a list of needs and
Stephanie will try to gather this information for Marla.Ý However, if anyone has pertinent links or
reports that could serve as references on the site, please send them to
Stephanie or Marla at Friends of Acadia.Ý
II.Ý List of indicators
The committee went through the
list of indicators to determine status on data collection and to review who
signed up to research these indicators.Ý
Stephanie will send reminders to those not at the meeting and will ask
others who have not attended the past couple of meetings to share any information
they might have.Ý All data/maps can be
sent to Stephanie who will forward them to whomever writes the op-ed piece
and/or State of the Island report.Ý
III.Ý Next meeting
No future meetings were set until the draft transportation section of
the ìState of the Islandî report is ready for review.
Respectfully submitted,
Stephanie M. Clement
