Follow-up from Last Meeting:

        Rob Liebow has given concept approval for publication of data collected from the recent drug and alcohol use survey at MDI High School.Ý Format and logistics are still to be worked out.

        Use of the MDI High School auditorium on June 6 for our large group meeting has been tentatively approved.

        We are requested by Earl Brechlin to include local news media in our list of participants.Ý The full list follows.Ý Donít forget to submit contact names to Ann so we can begin preparing a mailing list.

Planning for Large Group Meeting:

        Goals for the meeting:

o       Support youth

o       Identify issues, assets, and opportunities

o       Get more people involved

o       Involve youth with an equal voice

        Meeting logistics:

o       Invitation to include:

ß         Overview of MDI Tomorrow

ß         Encourage to bring your own kids

o       Before the meeting, distribute a packet of pre-reading to ìyesî responders

o       Need to lay out next steps in order to sustain momentum and participant interest

o       Envision two tracks emerging from the meeting:

ß         A general process, perhaps quite analytical, a la MDI Tomorrow

ß         Specific projects

o       Rather than having a separate meeting for youth only, make a big effort to get good youth representation at a combined adult/youth meeting

ß         Need good facilitation to make sure youth voices are heard

ß         Rotary Interact Club

ß         Alternative School (part of community service requirement)

ß         Martyís focus group of 5th and 6th graders

ß         General announcement in all schools

ß         Too late for the Trojan Tribune?
