Community Health Workgroup

Minutes from Sept. 24, 2002 - 9 ñ 10:45a.m.

Attending: Michael Anderson, Jeanne Fortier, Anne Krieg, Doug Michael, and

Gayle Gaynor

Excused: Joel Farley, Barb Peppey, and Claire Bingham

Doug updated us on how the MDI Tomorrow State of the Island report is coming together and how responses are coming in for the Neighbor to Neighbor surveys (50 so far).Ý Surveys have been distributed to employees at both The Jackson Lab and MDI Hospital.Ý He identified areas that we need to finish up or fine tune for our document on community health.Ý

These included:

® Indicators for the Health Behavior and Health Access sections

® Goals/visions for those same sections

® Prioritize key indicators

® Do a 5 or 6 bullet list identifying elements of vision

® Draft an op-ed piece for the local newspapers by Oct. 4^th

® Work on information that will be included on the MDI Tomorrow website

The group brainstormed to identify indicators and goals/visions for the sections that needed them.Ý We discussed the op-ed piece and it was decided that Doug & Gayle will do up a rough draft and then send it by e-mail to Mike and Jeanne for input.

We all need to be thinking about the elements of vision we want to include from the community health perspective that will be put up for public comment at the Island Network Conference on Nov. 16^th from 8-2 and also on Nov. 21^st in the evening.

Next meeting of this group will be Oct. 29^th from 3 ñ 4:30 pm.Ý Location in the conference room of the Swann Building on Cottage Street.
